Requirements
  • Zebra TC20 device in-hand
  • A PC with available USB 2.0 connection.
  • A USB Type-C to USB-A Male cable (not included TC20 device)
  Initial Startup
  • Setup the wifi access point on your device that is connected to your SAGE network.
  • Enter through the rest of the settings. You do not need to apply any additional security measures unless you prefer to do so.
  • Once you have reached to home-screen of the device, I will go over some optional settings that provide the best user experience:
User Experience Adjustments (Optional)
  • Screen orientation: Pull down the Settings dropdown menu from the top of the device and press the "Orientation" icon. By default it is set to UNLOCK or ALLOW rotation of the screen. For Warehouse 100 use, we suggest to LOCK the rotation of the screen.
  • Display Settings: Pull down the Settings dropdown and enter into the settings menu by touching the "Gear" icon. Touch Display. Turn OFF adaptive brightness. This setting changes brightness based on radiant light the device receives, can be bothersome to warehouse users.
  • Screen Timeout Setting: In the same Display Setting as above, you will see an option for "Sleep" values, by default this is set to "1 minute". We advise setting this to the longest time "30 minutes" so the device does not continually go to sleep in short usage.
  • Wake Up Sources: By default the TC20 wakes from suspend mode when the user presses the power button. The TC20 can be configured to wake when the user presses the PTT on the left side of the device or one of the Scan buttons. Pull down the Settings dropdown and enter into the settings menu by touching the "Gear" icon. Scroll to the bottom of the Settings. Touch Wake-Up Sources. We advise turning both Key_PTT and and Key_Scan on so that the device can be waked by pressing any of these buttons.
  • Removing Apps from the Homescreen: On the homescreen, apps can be removed from view by "long pressing" on the app and dragging them to "Remove" at the top of the screen. We advise doing this to remove confusion. Apps can still be accessed from the app drawer.

Setting Up the Datawedge

The data wedge on the device allows the device to know after scanning a barcode to enter and go to the next line, making entry on the app MUCH. We consider this a requirement of device setup. Luckily, we have a pre-filled database file you can use to get the DataWedge set up on your device without much of a problem. The attached file can be downloaded to your PC, and transferred to the device.

  • Download the datawedge.db file to your PC.
  • Navigate to portal.scanco.com and scroll all the way down on the login screen to "Android DataWedge Profile" and click on the barcode to download
  • The database.db will be downloaded and placed in your 'Downloads' folder.
  • Pull up the app drawer by pulling up from the bottom of the screen. Open 'DataWedge' application.
  • Touch the three dots at the top right of the Screen. Touch Settings.
  • Select to "Import Datawedge Configuration"
  • On the popup, press the "." to go to the topmenu of the device navigation.
  • Scroll down to "Internal" and tap.
  • Scroll up to "Downloads" folder and tap.
  • Tap on datawedge.db and the datawedge will import to your device.
  • You are all set with the DataWedge!

Setting Up the Warehouse 100 App

The last thing needed is to connect the Warehouse 100 app to your SAGE system. To do this:

  • In the Settings menu on first open of the app, enter the INTERNAL IP ADDRESS of the MAS server on the same network and press ENTER/RETURN on the Android keyboard.
  • In the PORT area, make sure the port is set to 50000 and press ENTER/DONE.
  • The app will authorize your device and you should be all set!
